Exploiting Machine Learning for Modern Electromagnetic (EM) Wave Scattering and Weak EM Signal Processing

Abstract

A critical DoD area that relies on EM is weak signal processing, which is central to the Global Positioning System (GPS) and to magnetic navigation based on earth’s magnetic fields as an alternative to GPS. In basic mathematics and engineering signal processing, to extract weak signals immersed in strong jamming/noise is a challenging problem. This proposal presents a machine learning approach to both problems.
