DURIP ULTRAHIGH-RESOLUTION MICROSCOPE RAMAN AND SYNCHRONOUS FLUORESCENCE SYSTEM

Abstract

Funding is requested for an ultra-high-resolution microscope Raman and synchronous fluorescence system capable of- 1. In situ detection and monitoring kinetics of time evolution events and the structural changes shall be performed by recording basic processes occurring in visual pigments cones and rods, bacteria, viruses and biological molecules, proteins by recording their Raman and synchronous fluorescence spectra cells Using the proposed DURIP instrument coupled with existing equipment in our labs. 2. Employing 10-15s UV to IR laser pulses the time evolution of visual cone reactions shall be measured from absorption to the creation of a signal transmitted through the neuron to the brain will be recorded. 3. We shall construct eye-ware that converts IR and UV to visible, efficiently, thus extend the visual range. The eyeglasses shall consist of IR transmitting polymers, impregnated with microparticles that convert IR to visible.
