(MURI) NATURAL AND SYNTHETIC NON-HERMITIAN QUANTUM MATERIALS

Abstract

Identification of the research and issues- This research shall address the understanding and demonstration of non-Hermitian physics at exceptional points (EPs) in the quantum domain. Non-Hermiticity and parity-time symmetry concepts promise new physics at EPs, including abrupt phase transitions and remarkable sensitivity to perturbations. While this has been demonstrated in certain classical systems, EP physics and engineering in quantum systems remains to be explored, understood, and demonstrated.
