(YIP) INVESTIGATING THE COMPLEXITIES OF LINEAR AND NONLINEAR OPTICS FOR MULTIMODE DEVICE APPLICATIONS AND OPTICAL COMPUTING

Abstract

We introduce a theoretical framework for designing a universal linear optical device that is suited for photonic integration while it holds promise for scaling to large numbers of input-output channels and provides opportunities for an efficient photonic matrix multiplier. In addition, we investigate the usefulness of disorder in multimode photonic waveguides for performing random projections that allow for handling very-high dimensional data.
