WALL-BOUNDED STREAMWISE VORTEX DESTRUCTION
Abstract
We propose to develop active flow control strategies for the manipulation and destruction of wall bounded vortices in vortex dominated flows. By altering vortex dynamics, we directly alter the aerodynamics, leading to enhanced performance and control in application. With this work, we will recreate vortex dominated flows over a flat plate in a large-scale wind tunnel and control them via unsteady blowing and suction wall-mounted actuators (i.e., synthetic jets).
