Optical and RF time domain system for quantum spin lifetime and entanglement studies

Abstract

Funds are requested for the purchase of laser and RF pulse system to enable quantum spin fluorescence lifetime measurement as well as RF pi pulse spin state manipulation in quantum sensors in living cells. Currently supported as well as planned research for this equipment include- 1) Quantum, nanoelectronic, and super-resolution optical probes of mitochondrial bioelectronics, 2) Quantum thermometry of bioenergetics and mitochondria, 3) Integration of olfactory proteins with nanoelectronics using single ion channel electrophysiology; 4) Studies of metabolism using quantum sensors in plants (Arabidopsis); 5) More generally, quantum sensors in biology, and quantum effects in biology. It is understood that any developmental items and specially designed parts, components, accessories and attachments generated under this Defense Department agreement are being developed for both civil and military applications.
