Novel Infrared, Visible, and Ultraviolet Lasers- Free-Free Transitions and Two Color Pumping

Abstract

DURIP funding is requested here for optical equipment that will establish an Advanced Infrared and Visible Laser Demonstration Facility at the University of Illinois. Research conducted at Illinois over the past several years has culminated in several new fiber and gas phase lasers and optical amplifiers that appear to be ideally suited for DOD applications in imaging, optical communications, and countermeasures, for example, but existing experimental capabilities do not allow for spectroscopic characterization or scaling of these systems.
