Reduced Order Model Algorithms for SAR Imaging in Multi-Scattering Dispersive Environment

Abstract

Our long term research is on reduced order models (ROMs), in particular, their data-driven variety. The ROM is a low dimensional dynamic systems accurately approximating response of a large scale dynamic system, the LTI Maxwell system in our case, and the data-driven ROMs construct such systems just from the measurements (data) without knowledge of the coefficients of the Maxwell system. This is not dissimilar to the network synthesis, when the ROMs are realized via ladder networks matching rational approximations of targeted filter transfer functions. The inverse scattering can be also treated in the network synthesis framework. The key here is the continuum interpretation of the synthesized network in terms of the underlying medium properties, aka embedding.
