Building and Exploiting Theory of Mind to Support Trust Calibration in Human-Machine Joint Action

Abstract

This project will lead to new discoveries in ToM and trust processes in HMJA. With the goal of trust calibration, it will enable machines to model human actions in the presence of risks and incomplete information, resulting in safe, transparent, and efficient coordination with humans in various defense missions - combat, humanitarian aid, and support - as well as accelerate adoption of robot-AI technologies.
