The 24th Conference on Integer Programming and Combinatorial Optimization

Abstract

The funding request is to provide partial travel support for an estimated 15 MS students, PhD students, and-or Postdocs to attend the 24th Conference on Integer Programming and Combinatorial Optimization (IPCO) that is to be held from June 19 to June 23, 2023 at the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. IPCO is a highly-selective refereed conference that is held every year under the auspices of the Mathematical Optimization Society. The conference is a forum for researchers and practitioners working on various aspects of integer programming and combinatorial optimization. The aim is to present recent developments in theory, computation, and applications within these areas. IPCO 2023 will feature a poster session for young researchers to showcase their work to established colleagues in the fields of integer programming and combinatorial optimization. The poster session, held jointly with a reception, is traditionally well-attended and serves as a springboard for networking. The requested funding is to provide travel support to poster finalists in the amounts of up to $1000 per person; finalists are selected based on the scientific merit of their research and the appropriateness to the conference. The total request from AFOSR is $10,000. The estimated overall conference cost is $43,564 as stated on page 10 of the proposal. The first two days will consist of a summer school for young researchers, and the final three days will comprise the conference itself. The expected attendance is 50 for the summer school and 90 for the conference.
