Conference Support for the Ionospheric Effects Symposium 2023

Abstract

This proposal requests support for the upcoming Ionospheric Effects Symposium that will be held at the Hilton Hotel, Old Town, Alexandria, VA, 9-11 May 2023. IES was established in 1978 to meet the need for a forum focused specifically on the effects of the ionosphere on radio communications, navigation and surveillance systems. The meeting attracts a large contingent of researchers and managers from the US government as well as DoD contractors, while also maintaining broad international appeal. It is normally held every three years in synch with the URSI General Assembly; however, as an in-person only meeting, the plans for such a gathering in 2020 and 2021 were not possible due to Covid-19. We are now anxious to resume the meeting in 2023, again in synch with the URSI GA.
