Enhancing the atomic and mesoscale understanding of microstructure-property relationships in advanced materials

Abstract

The University of Oklahoma (OU) proposal aims to equip the core user characterization facility at the University of Oklahoma with a dual-beam Scanning Electron - Focused Ion Beam microscope (SEM-FIB). The objectives of this project are to investigate the relationships between processing, microstructure, and properties in structural materials and develop new materials that can be investigated for quantum properties. The requested equipment will therefore support basic science research activities related to materials science and quantum at OU and boost OU s capability to train future scientists and engineers through research and education conducted with the proposed equipment.
