AEROMORPH- Aerospace Morphing via Integrated Sense, Assess and Respond

Abstract

Florida AandM University-Florida State University (FAMU-FSU) and the University of Florida (UF) propose to establish a Center of Excellence (COE) with AFOSR and AFRL-RQ-RW-RX. We will conduct basic research to establish a foundational understanding of integrated Sense-Assess- Respond (SAR) frameworks to advance morphing flight vehicles at high-speed. Innovative sensing and assessing will be engineered through new techniques in microscale manufacturing, design and implementation of physical reservoir computing (PRC) to overcome limitations that traditional Machine Learning (ML) algorithms cannot address. We will process information into actionable knowledge in real-time to identify relevant information within chaotic nonlinear environments. Together a SAR framework will be created with embedded sensing motifs to compress the SAR loop and expand the physical knowledge base for multi-objective control of morphing vehicles.
