Space Domain Awareness in a Photon-Starved Environment

Abstract

We propose the design, development, and transition plans for a scalable hybrid optical telescope (HOT) project for high-resolution imaging and characterization of faint targets. It consists of a number of major innovations, which when combined will result in a revolutionary advance in USAF space capabilities and enable resolved spatial and spectral imagery of satellites in GEO and beyond using current USAF EO-sensors at a fraction of the cost of large filled aperture telescopes like the TMT.
