Instrumentation for Developing Universal Programmable Photonic Integrated Circuits for Analog Information Processing

Abstract

This proposal aims at developing new experimental research capabilities at Queens College of CUNY to support research in the technical areas of photonic integrated circuits. Advances in silicon photonic integrated circuit foundry processes have created great opportunities for cost-effective fabrication of large-scale photonic chips with many components for various applications including on-chip optical computing. However, the growing complexity of photonic chips demand for automated testing equipment. The goal of this proposal is the acquisition of a state-of-the-art photonics characterization station for testing multiport programmable photonic integrated devices and systems.
