Extending the Power of AI for Scientific Discovery

Abstract

The Co-PIs, Dr. Carla Gomes and Dr. Bart Selman, have requested a compute cluster for AI research on computation- and data-intensive approaches for scientific discovery. Their research integrates algorithmic development with empirical validation, drawing from a range of AI research areas - such as symbolic AI, machine learning, constraint reasoning and optimization, multi-agent systems, and human computation - to establish meaningful connections. Core aspects of their research include- unifying constraint reasoning, optimization, and machine learning to tackle complex data analysis tasks in the pursuit of scientific discovery, leveraging problem structure, investigating multi-agent systems, etc...
