High-Speed Aerodynamics

Abstract

The acquisition of new experimental hardware is proposed in support of ongoing AFOSR-funded research into the development and application of spectrally resolved laser diagnostics for the study of hypersonic flow chemistry. This request includes the necessary hardware to develop, construct, and implement new laser absorption spectroscopy sensors in the Caltech T5 Reflected Shock Tunnel for the characterization of the nozzle freestream composition, the study of recombination and excited electronic state chemistry in high-enthalpy flows, and the refinement of the US3D CFD code.
