Volumetric Velocimetry System to Spatio-Temporally Resolve Texture-Induced Near-Wall Turbulent Dynamics

Abstract

The objective of the proposed DURIP equipment is to advance our ability to spatio-temporally resolve the non-equilibrium response of flows over smooth-, rough- and textured surfaces in a transformative manner. The textures under consideration are typically small (Order(0.1percent) of the boundary layer thickness), and only interact with the near-wall turbulence production to form a ‘sub-layer .
