Towards the Development of a Neuromorphic Visual System (NeViS)- dissecting the encoding of the mammalian visual system using neuromorphic neural circuits

Abstract

This project aims to decode and replicate the brain s visual processing methods to improve brain-machine interfaces (BMIs) and robotic systems. The study will focus on Retinal Ganglion Cells (RGCs) and will include developing neuromorphic neural circuits (NNCs) to emulate their behavior, creating a multichannel Neuromorphic Visual System (NVS). The output from the NVS will be used to generate motor commands in artificial systems, which will be tested on custom-built robots. The overall framework has hope to potentially laying the groundwork for advances in prosthetic eyes and other applications.
