International Conference on Multiscale Modeling and Simulation Based on Physics and Data

Abstract

This proposal is to hold an International Conference on Multiscale Modeling and Simulation based on Physics and Data (ICMMS for short) at IPAM-UCLA on April 25-26, 2024. The conference will provide a forum to exchange and stimulate new ideas from different disciplines, and to formulate new challenging multiscale problems that will have impact in applications. Multiscale analysis, modeling, and simulation have made significant impact in many scientific disciplines, including biology, chemistry, data analysis, energy, environmental science, fluid dynamics, geophysics, information science, materials science, and social science. While multiscale approaches have been used in many disciplines, much of the recent progress to date has been problem-specific and has not taken full advantage of the recent exciting developments in data science. There is an urgent need to develop systematic multiscale methodologies that integrate physical science and data science. Such methods can be applied to a wide range of applications.
