Entanglement and optical bistability in microtoroidal cavities coupled to two-level atoms

Abstract

Establish a full quantum treatment on entanglement and optical bistability in microtoroidal cavities coupled to two-level atoms. The project aims to investigate the generation, manipulation, characterization, and transfer of nonclassical states of light using whispering-gallery-mode microtoroidal cavities. The researchers will explore the possibilities of occurrence of super-radiance or electromagnetic induced transparency (EIT) in a chain of microtoroidal cavities and investigate novel ways of coupling the cavities to form optical networks suitable for quantum state transfer and communications. The research is within the scope of Quantum Information Sciences and aims to pave the way for building quantum networks.
