International Conference on Mathematical and Scientific Machine Learning 2024 (MSML2024) - AFOSR Proposal

Abstract

The International Conference on Mathematical and Scientific Machine Learning 2024 (MSML2024) is the fifth edition of a newly established international conference, with an emphasis on promoting the study of mathematical theory and algorithms of machine learning, as well as applications of machine learning in scientific computing and engineering disciplines. This edition will be the second conference of the series to be held fully in person. New themes of the conference will include (1) causal inference, (2) optimization for surrogate training, and (3) optimal transport, while traditional themes such as graph neural networks, and general mathematics of machine learning will also be featured. These topics involve Fundamental Research to develop technology for both civil and military applications. This international conference aims to bring together the communities of machine learning, applied mathematics, and computational science and engineering, to exchange ideas and progress in this fast-growing field. The objective of this annual conference series is to promote the study of- (1) Theory and algorithms of machine learning and machine intelligence, with a focus on the topics stated above. (2) Applications in scientific and engineering disciplines such as physics, chemistry, material sciences, fluid and solid mechanics, etc. The conference will be held June 17-21, 2024, in Trieste, Italy at the SISSA (International School of Advanced Studies) campus.
