Decoupling the Role of Gravity in Processing Soft Matter Systems

Abstract

Microscopic soft matter systems demonstrate an intrinsic density anisotropy both in mixtures and at the single particle level. By decoupling the effects of gravity through controlled gravitational forces, we can gain fundamental insights into the physics of soft matter systems in 3D for applications such as additive materials manufacturing in the space environment.
