Studies and optimization of highly structured light beams in random media

Abstract

Our overall goal is to find highly structured light beams that have improved stability in a range of atmospheric channels. We focus in this proposal on their use for communication but such beams also have great potential for remote sensing applications. We will look at the conditions under which such beams are effective and furthermore explain the physics of such improved performance. We will provide guidelines for the use of such beams in practical applications.
