FAO Improving Delivery of Animal Health Services and Disease Surveillance in Anbar, Ninawa, and Duhok Governorates

Abstract

The objectives of this grant are to support restoration and enhancement of sustainable veterinary services in Anbar, Ninawa and Duhok Governorates. More specifically, this project will work to strengthen laboratory diagnostic capabilities, epidemiological skills, and surveillance capabilities including data collection, analysis, and reporting. The impact of this work will be a reduction of the threat posed by emerging, transboundary, and endemic pathogens of security concern. The outcomes of this work will result in an enhanced early warning system that will support early detection, response and control of high security pathogens. This project will also work to develop strategies and policies that can support sustained veterinary services within the aforementioned three governorates.
