Project Unite

Abstract

Project Unite will meet the priority needs of military-connected children in the Anchorage School District (ASD), in Anchorage, Alaska. The five-year project will annually serve over 1,660 K-6 students in five ASD elementary schools on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. Goal 1: increase math achievement. Strategies: in-class support, tutoring, and extracurricular math-related activities. Goal 2: improve school climate. Strategies: peer support through peer mediator and leadership activities; and parent /community engagement through family nights and orientations for new students and families. Embedded professional development will equip teachers with the skills and knowledge to meet the academic and social-emotional needs of their students.
