Supporting Secondary Military-Dependent Students through Enhanced Counseling Services

Abstract

Sierra Sands USD “Supporting Secondary Military-Dependent Students through Enhanced Counseling Services” project increases social emotional supports for the military dependent students at grades 6 and above. Military support counselors expand and enhance counseling services. A social emotional curriculum is utilized school wide. A Response to Intervention model with systematic behavior screening and tiered responses targets services where they are most needed. Delivery of services is through classroom based lessons, small group sessions and individual services for more intense intervention. Data and data-based decision-making informs the counseling services program and measures impact.
