Abstract
Project Navigation seeks to improve social-emotional development experiences for targeted students thorough 1) the development of school-based wellness teams, 2) hiring of a mental health professional to serve the schools, and 3) embedding social-emotional curricula into the regular school program. Goals include improving identification of need for intensive counseling and increased parent/community engagement, as well as improved academic and behavioral outcomes. School-based Mental Health Wellness Teams will be established that create infrastructures to provide oversight for social-emotional well-being of the students and their parents. Wellness trainings will focus on strategies from mindfulness, meditation, resiliency, and a trauma-informed curricula.
