AVID Academic Support Enhancing STEM

Abstract

AVID Academic Support Enhancing STEM will improve STEM-related student achievement in science and mathematics at three secondary schools (grades 6-12) serving students of Fort Riley and Junction City, Kansas. Through professional development teachers/tutors will focus on STEM related curriculum and technology interventions to enhance student college and career readiness in STEM fields. Building on the previous Steam into STEM project, strategy categories include: enhancing AVID in-class supports, increasing STEM activities and professional development. External evaluation will provide an assessment of: fidelity of implementation, formative / summative evaluations; and employ multiple evaluation methods: surveys, interviews, classroom observations, and documentation of progress.
