Grants to Local Educational Agencies for Military-Connected Academic and Support Programs
Abstract
Project TACTICAL (Teaching and Connecting Through Interactive Classroom and Language Arts) is intended to increase college career readiness skills in English Language Art and decrease social-emotional risk factors. This project will utilize the strategies of RTI, problem-based learning and differentiated instruction. Non-fiction materials will be used simultaneously in the ELA and Social Studies curriculum to develop critical thinking and research skills. Strategies to develop intense social-emotional supports for military connected students will include a district wide peer mentoring program and the addition of a PCS Facilitator position. LEAP 360, a summative and formative diagnostic tool will be utilized for assessments.
