Building eSTEAM in Okaloosa County Schools

Abstract

The mobility of the military family creates challenges in the education of children. STEAM education incorporates core subject areas, team building and problem solving skills. These experiences are paramount for college and career readiness. Building eSTEAM in Okaloosa County Schools is a proposal to create STEAM based lesson kits to increase STEM engagement, improve the craft of instruction through progressive professional development, and build community between teachers and military families through technology resources that will allow for distance learning and communication. Investing in the area of STEM education will open many opportunities for the military dependent student.
