Abstract

Challenge Up! A College and Career Readiness initiative promoting achievement through Advanced Placement in STEM disciplines, middle school STEM Makerspaces, and hands-on elementary STEM activities. The program seeks to provide direct services to military-dependent students through increased access to College and Career Readiness (CCR) and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) opportunities. Analysis of recent and historical testing data identifies systemic deficiencies in Mathematics and Science, and the objective of this project is to effectively embed CCR opportunities (in the form of mobile STEM labs, makerspaces, and distance learning settings) to increase achievement while enhancing the educational experience of all Harnett County Schools students, especially children of military families.
