Biloxi PSD DoDEA - Increasing College and Career Readiness through STEM
Abstract
Biloxi Public School District is home to over 5,100 active duty service members and their families. The focus of Operation S.E.R.V.E. is to provide direct services to military dependent students promoting (1) College and Career Readiness, by increasing student achievement in mathematics, and (2) STEM, by increasing military dependent students’ exposure and engagement to STEM programs. Project strategies will include teacher sustained professional development in mathematics and cross-curricular STEM learning to develop critical thinking skills through an inquiry environment. On-going professional development shall be site-based, and shall include lesson study through the structure of professional learning communities.
