A CCR Mindset for Middle School and Beyond
Abstract
A CCR Mindset for Middle School and Beyond serves military students in Poulsbo, Washington. In order to prepare all military dependent students for college and careers, the Program’s direct service strategy is to provide the cognitive strategies, skills and dispositions that lead to successful post-secondary engagement. This approach builds on the success of two DoDEA grants focused on science content knowledge. The top five industries in Kitsap County are STEM related. Therefore, the secondary strategy is to build STEM career pathways. Based on data, the current focus for alignment to careers of the present and future should be at the middle school level.
