The Cache Transformation Project

Abstract

The Cache Transformation Project will focus on grades PK-12 to prepare military-dependent students with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary for successful postsecondary engagement leading to STEM career fields. The goals are 1) to increase the number of 5th grade military-connected students who score Upper Proficient and Advanced on Grade 5 State Science Exams, and 2) to increase the number of 10th grade military-connected students who score above 20 on the STEM outcome of the PreACT test. One strategy will provide in-class curriculum and instructional support through project-based learning, a curriculum aligned with National Standards and coordinated with the Medicine Park Aquarium & Natural Sciences Center, co-teaching, and STEM coaches. A second strategy is to provide in-class technology supports via computers, educational software, subscriptions, and online professional learning resources. The third strategy is to engage students in extracurricular activities at the Aquarium, at the school, and in the STEM community.
