Making Math Meaningful (Project M3)

Abstract

Project M3: Making Math Meaningful, is designed to enhance college and career readiness through STEM, by focusing on math achievement and enhancing the relevance of mathematics for military connected students in North Hanover Township School District, NJ. To accomplish these goals, M3 implements classroom based curriculum that applies differentiated instructional practices, technological support and resources that enable every student to be successful in mathematics. All direct services to students are supported by a systemic, systematic, collaborative, job-embedded professional learning program. Additionally, home-school and real world connections are emphasized through extra-curricular and family oriented mathematics experiences. All strategies of the M3 project focus on cross curricular skills that support college and career readiness through strong engagement in mathematical modeling and reasoning, and in depth exploration of content so that military connected students are prepared to use math to problem solve, understand and critique the world around them.
