Abstract
The Skills, Opportunities, Academics, and Readiness (SOAR) with STEM program in the York County School Division will target military connected students in grades K-8 by providing college and career readiness STEM experiences through STEM focused extracurricular clubs, curriculum, and summer enrichment camps to increase student engagement and academic achievement in science. Currently, student STEM experiences are site-based and the SOAR with STEM program will provide equity across the district. This program will provide material and resources for STEM clubs at each elementary and middle school, provide professional learning opportunities, and create partnerships with local STEM professionals. For transitional support, STEM focused summer enrichment camps will provide connections for our military connected students.
