Makerspaces Accelerating Project Lead the Way (MAP)

Abstract

The MAP project will have two goals to improve science proficiency for the students by May 2023: 1) to increase the percentage of military-connected 3rd grade students at Forest Avenue scoring at or above the national average on the MAP science assessments by 7 percentage points over the 2019 baseline, and 2) to increase the percentage of military-connected 8th grade students at Gaudet Middle School Scoring at or above the national average on the MAP science assessments by 7 percentage points over the 2019 baseline. Both goals support the needs identified in the needs assessment. Existing measures show that third grade, fifth grade, and eighth grade students have low grade level proficiency in science. The use of the MAP for third grade and eight grade students provides a summative outcome measure to evaluate the progress of the intervention. Key summative outcomes for each goal will use the Northwest Evaluation Association MAP Science.
