Educating our Digital Generation Effectively (Project EDGE)

Abstract

Project EDGE- Educating our Digital Generation Effectively, provides research-based professional development and support models to provide students access to STEM and PBL focused classrooms, personalized learning opportunities and high-interest STEM clubs with a goal of improving student achievement in math and science. Project EDGE takes a multi-pronged approach to support students’ personalized learning needs in order for them to meet their college and career goals. PBL/STEM will be infused in elementary classrooms in conjunction with implementation of a new NGSS aligned science series. Additionally, Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Choice classrooms will be established at the elementary level. At the secondary level, virtual courses will be offered in virtual learning spaces at the high school as well as for home access by traditional and homeschool students. Personalized learning paths will be created for students via interaction with online learning tools that will meet students where they are and provide support whether below level, on-level or for enrichment and extension. Coding and Robotics Clubs will be established at all levels to give students the opportunity to explore these strands and to apply skills they have learned in the classroom.
