Bishop ON TRACK 2: A college preparation and STEM enrichment project

Abstract

Bishop On Track 2 will serve military-dependent students who attend a K-6 elementary school in rural southwest Oklahoma. The project will have a primary focus of preparing students for postsecondary engagement by increasing their proficiency in STEM concepts. The first CCR-STEM goal will be to increase achievement on state math proficiency assessments through professional development, in-class curriculum and instruction support through specialized math curriculum, integration of in-class technology support through tablets, and extracurricular activities through afterschool math clubs. The second CCR-STEM goal will be to increase student proficiency in science through in-class curriculum and instruction support such as STEM makerspace labs, afterschool tutoring, and extracurricular activities, including science-themed field trips and afterschool robotics clubs. The long-term outcome of the project is an increased number of military-dependent students who both excel in STEM subjects and choose a career in STEM fields.
