Project: i2KanCode! Exposing Students to the College and Career Readiness Skill of Coding Supporting Military Connected Students Academically and Emotionally

Abstract

Derby Public Schools will create academic interventions including, extracurricular clubs, an increased focus on exposing Elementary (starting as early as Kindergarten) and Middle School students to the college and career readiness skill of coding, via coding robots, and utilize partnerships with area STEM-based museums and parks to positively impact the academic achievement of military-connected students. These supports will allow military students to achieve academic outcomes equivalent to or better than their non-military peers.
