Operation: Copperas Cove Codes (C3)

Abstract

Operation: Copperas Cove Codes (C 3) will improve the percentage of military students achieving “Met” and “Mastered Grade Level” on the Math STAAR (State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness) in grades five and eight thereby increasing the likelihood students will be prepared for more rigorous secondary and post-secondary coursework. In-class integration of Computer Science and Coding instructional strategies and extra-curricular opportunities will be offered to increase students’ computational, mathematical, and problem-solving skills. Computer Coding exercises led by cross-curricular teachers and paired with specific content skills will result in higher levels of computational thinking, synthesis of mathematical concepts, and higher academic aptitude of military students. In-class technology resources will be added to support Computer Science and Coding integration with embedded professional development and campus-based Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Coaching.
