Operation STEP to CCR: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Pathways to College and Career Readiness

Abstract

Operation STEP to CCR: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Pathways to College and Career Readiness Career Readiness will ensure military-connected students in Prince William County Public Schools are provided STEM-related opportunities that adequately prepare them to be successful in postsecondary institutions or in the workplace after completing high school. This project is focused on elementary and high school military-connected students across fifteen school sites. At the elementary level, this project will provide extensive opportunities for early exposure to STEM activities that will spark student interest in STEM-related career clusters. Students will be able to link academics, career, and technical skills. Furthermore, in high school, military-connected students will have the opportunity to participate in and complete an increasing number of dual enrollment credits in science and technology courses. Focusing on college and career readiness at the elementary school through high school level utilizes the major principle of backward design: beginning with the end in mind.
