Connecting 21st Century Pathways to Active, Engaged Learning: Gateway to STEM Careers for Military Connected Communities
Abstract
STEM programming in and out of the classroom is a proven method to building 21st century competencies and providing pathways for STEM careers for the leaders of tomorrow. This STEM-focused program enriches the military-connected community in the El Paso Independent School District by equipping and expanding the STEM Magnet High School, preparing middle school students through STEM electives and STEM focused clubs, and strengthening core science instruction. This strategy will vertically align STEM-based learning from elementary to high school for military-connected communities and create a gateway for college and career readiness.
