Engineering your Experience (EYE)
Abstract
Fort Belvoir Elementary School (FBES) is proposing a STEM program called Engineering Your Experience (EYE): Designing your day, that will consists of one goal, to increase, math achievement as measured by the VA Standards of Learning (SOLs) tests by 2% per year for the duration of the grant. The three strategies for this goal will include: in-class curriculum and instructional support, extra-curricular activities and technology. The strategies will be supported through the retention of a math consultant and the hiring of a project Based Learning (PBL) Coach to provide job-embedded professional development. The professional learning will increase teacher capacity in key content areas and guide the development and implementation of on integrated project-based learning (PBL) lessons. A PBL content coach will support a cohort of teachers employing these lessons that are focused on building a welcoming school community in the after-school and summer STEM/PBL programming.
