Abstract
Project Helping Everyone Reach Optimal Science (HEROS) Power has been developed to support the academic achievement of military-connected students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) at Nathan Twining Elementary and Middle School on the Grand Forks Air Force Base. Project HEROS Power will establish a program that provides students with opportunities to see how STEM is used in daily life and enriches students educational experiences through field trips, career explorations, robotics competitions , and partnership with community experts. Students will be taught by trained Project Lead The Way (PLTW) teachers that develop a school culture focused on STEM. The students of Nathan Twining Elementa1y and Middle School, all of which are military-connected, will acquire lifelong strategies and real-world application through Project HEROS Power supported by the evidence-based PLTW program and high-quality teacher development.
