Project Career Launch
Abstract
Project Career Launch has two overarching objectives: 1) Raise reading literacy for students in grades K-12, and 2) Expand the district’s Health Sciences program to support increasing students earning college dual credit hours. The rationale for Project Career Launch is based in our needs assessment. Analyses of data from the 2018-19 year, which revealed that approximately 40% of the district’s military-connected students failed to prove proficiency on the state’s end-of-year English/Language Arts exam for grades 3-8 and 11. Moreover, there are large achievement gaps for racial/ethnic minorities and low-income students. An expected outcome is the improvement in student reading proficiency over the project performance period therefore, reducing the educational achievement gaps.
