Abstract

Developing the Future Health Science/Biomedical Workforce: Increasing Course Enrollment and Industry Credentials grant proposal’s main objective is to create authentic learning experiences that encourage and prepare students to develop skills and aptitude through the application of Health Science/Biomedical real-world, problem-solving experiences in the classroom. The expected outcome of this grant project is to increase health science and biomedical CTE industry recognized credentials of military-connected students. Madison City Schools, located in Madison, AL will increase student knowledge and skills in the Health Science/Biomedical career fields through implementation of additional courses in both high schools and both middle schools; increase opportunities to earn a valuable industry recognized workforce credential; and improve rigor of science courses leading up to the Health Science/Biomedical Career Pathways. The rationale for this project is to begin early in middle school preparing and motivating military-connected students to earn Health Science/Biomedical credentials in high school and graduate to either immediate work in a Healthcare/Biomedical field or entrance into a Healthcare/Biomedical post-secondary program.
