STEM Health and Wellness
Abstract
STEM Health and Wellness is designed to strengthen and expand the physical health and wellness of military-connected students in grades PreK-12 by incorporating STEM practices and learning into daily physical activity and instruction. Teachers will be provided job-embedded professional development through the curriculum and instructional support, as well as in-class support for Physical Education teachers. STEM Health and Wellness is designed to provide students with a better understanding of the importance of being physically fit and healthy while promoting critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills. It is believed that if students have a better understanding of the science behind physical education, the human body, and the benefits of physical activity, there will be an increase in the percent of students who are physically fit to serve in the military upon graduation.
