Career Pathways: Developing STEM and CTE Learning Pathways for Student Success

Abstract

The primary goal of our project entitled, “Career Pathways: Developing Learning Pathways for Student Success,” is to develop and establish clear STEM and CTE pathways that will enable students from the Delta/Greely School District to graduate from high school with the requisite skills to successfully enter post-secondary programs, or graduate from high school with actual certifications in STEM/CTE fields. This grant will support our military connected students by: (1) providing more class options, and career paths, for students in the areas of STEM and CTE; (2) providing the necessary STEM and CTE professional development to ensure we have the skills to successfully instruct and develop highly successful learning strategies in the classroom; (3) ensure we have the necessary STEM and CTE equipment and technology infrastructure to implement the plan outlined in this grant, and (4) provide opportunities for both teachers and students to explore and experience real-world STEM and CTE learning opportunities. This project will involve our two secondary schools encompassing grades 6-12. In grades 6-8 our project will work on building STEM literacy, so all students can learn and apply introductory and advanced STEM concepts. In grades 9-12 students will take their newly acquired skills and apply them to STEM specific pathways, especially our Health Science Pathway.
